The Kent Exiles this week announced their most important signing in preparation for the 2005 season, by confirming that Nigel Hadley will be joining the club.

The Ex-Norwich Devils defensive maestro joins the club to co-ordinate the Exiles defence, a position the club has been keen to fill since last season when the unit struggled to keep it’s early season form in the face of mounting injuries. Hadley has a proven track record in his seven years of coaching experience, having led the Devils league leading defence in their 2001 bowl appearance season and 2002 Bowl Championship season, he also won the title as a player in 1990 with the Ipswich Cardinals. "I’m delighted to be joining such a well organised and focussed club", commented Hadley. "The Exiles have impressed me for years as an opponent with their fierce determination to keep going against all odds, couple this with the talent they have recruited over the last few years, and the potential is there for all to see. I aim to harness this and give them the tools they need to dominate opponents on both sides of the ball".

Exiles Head Coach Phil Wood added "We’re delighted to have recruited Nigel, he has a winning mentality, and experience at all levels of coaching which stood him out amongst the other candidates for the job. Our defence will surely be improved from last season with him on board".

With this enhanced coaching line up, which has some more additions yet to be announced, the emphasis is clearly on more improvement for the club as it moves into the new season. And in line with this the Exiles are now also training on a Thursday night, and running a gym session on Tuesday evenings, as well as having three pre-season match up’s already confirmed.

The club has worked hard in the off season to secure the services of additional coaches for 2005, as well as restructuring their training regime to not only include more sessions, but to more accurately follow the elite player program. In depth positional drills are also included to enable the Youth section to benefit from experienced coaching on the basics of the game.

The full Exiles organisation, from Youth to Senior, are also now back in training every Sunday from 10-1 at their Orpington home on the Kent/South London borders, the club can be contacted in confidence via their website for further details.
