Offence masterful as Exiles cruise to victory

North Kent Patriots 6-22 Kent Exiles

Exiles receiver Alan Harris had yet another excellent game to add to his already impressive statistics. Harris, and the fearsome foursome running backs of Tompsett, Hands, Hyland and Williams, as well as the rest of the offence racked up an unbeleivable 468 yards on just 74 plays, an average of 6.32 yards per play, against a strong North Kent defence.

The game was split open when Harris sped past the cornerback for a spectacular 54 yard touchdown from Quarterback Phil Patton. Then running back Lee Hyland pounded his way through the line for the 2 point conversion. North Kent replied with a strong drive, but the inpenitrable Exiles defence came up with big plays and shut them down.

Then after a strong Exiles drive with key plays by Alan Hands, Hyland went into the endzone with a weaving run, but the extra point was no good. The Patriots replied with a swift drive stunningly finished off by Adrian Bell, but again the extra point was no good.

In the 3rd quarter back up quarterback John Garner came on for Phil Patton, and played a solid game including a pinpoint 27 yard pass to Harris. Then to cap an impressive drive Hands ran in from 16 yards out for the score, sprung by an excellent open field block by receiver Paul Pester, Hands followed it up with a spectacular catch from Garner for the 2 point conversion.

The Patriots then came back with a shortened drive shut down by the mighty Exiles defence, the Exiles then controlled the ball well to run the clock out leaving the final score 22-6
