Exiles get season back on track

Kent Exiles 26-22 North Kent Patriots

The Exiles took the lead on the fourth play of the game, when linebacker Adrian Mason recovered a blocked punt in the endzone, only to see the Patriots take it straight back on a 4 yard touchdown run, to which they added the 2 point conversion. This was in fact to be the story of the game with the lead changing hands an amazing seven times.

The Exiles next touchdown came in the second quarter when Lee Hyland broke four tackles on his way to a 29 yard catch and run touchdown, but again the Patriots came straight back breaking loose on a 61 yard run for a touchdown, to take a 14-12 lead into the locker room.

The Exiles came out into the second half and drove down the field in 14 plays, which was capped by 117 yard rushing hero Alan Hands 27 yard touchdown run, to which Hyland drove in the 2 point conversion. But again the Patriots responded with a 12 yard touchdown run and 2 point conversion to give them a 22-20 lead.

The Exiles once again scored first in the fourth quarter on Alan Harris' 16 yard reception from Phil Patton, the Patriots began to drive back down the field, but were held on a crucial 4th down and 1 play by the Exiles defence led by Ian Naylor with a brilliant 11 tackle display.

The turnover then let the Exiles offence take over and run out the clock, and leave them victorious.
