Chris Hope - 2 Int's

The Exiles cruised to a 40-0 victory against the Bedfordshire Blue Raiders behind a dominant defensive performance, and in doing so were confirmed as Division 2 East Champions, and are guarenteed a home play-off game in the first round of matches.

Ryan Wilson got the ball rolling with a first quarter interception, and in a quarter where the offence had sputtered, this set up Zac Ritchie to find Audley Swain from 24 yards out and the first score. The point after was blocked, and the Exiles led 6-0.

Kevin Newton - 2 sacks

Chris Hope then continued his fantastic season, picking off another Blue Raiders pass to set up the Exiles second score, this time Wesley Eversley followed a great block from Alistair Beaton to find the endzone on a 33 yard run for the score. Bradley McManus kicked the point after, and it was 13-0.

The half was rounded out with a third score, Ritchie finding last weeks hero Jon Miller from 35 yards out, McManus again kicked the point after, and the Exiles led 20-0 at the half.

The Exiles defence continued it's domination in the second half, Kerry Gray making several big tackles, and Kevin Newton getting a brace of sacks, before the unit was rewarded with a touchdown of it's own when Chris Hope picked off another errant pass, and this time returned it 32 yards for the score.

The Exiles scored twice more to round out the game, Ritchie finding Eversley from 24 yards out, and the Swain from 6 yards away, and McManus kicked both extra points to give the final 40-0 scoreline.

Following the game Exiles Head Coach Tony Bainbridge commented "it was great to clinch the Divisional Title, but there is still more to do if we want to become Division 2 Champions. It was great to score so many points from turnovers today, and if our defence keeps these performances up then we are in with as good a chance as anyone!"

The Exiles now travel to Watford to face the Cheetahs next weekend, and then will host their first play-off game on the 28th August. To find out who the Exiles play then check out our website for full details,
