The Kent Exiles christened their new home at the Beaverwood Club with a dominating victory over the winless Essex Spartans in front of 200 fans.

In their first home match of the season, sponsored by the Rib Shack American Restaurant, the Exiles controlled all parts of the game, and steadily put up points in each quarter.

Ben Abbott continued where he had left off against the Pumas, and rushed for his second 100 yard game of the season, and also opened the scoring with a 2 yard run. Anthony Clarke ran in the two point conversion for an early lead. Rookie rushing sensation Ryan Critcher scored the second touchdown on a 14 yard burst, and the Exiles had an early 14-0 lead.

The Exiles kicked off back to the Spartans, and the short kick was fielded by Norris Owusu who returned it 60 yards for the Spartans score, Osi Nzeako ran in the two point conversion to compound the mistake, and bring the score back to 14-8.

The second quarter started as the rest of the game was to continue, the Exiles defence making a big play as Nick Clifford snared his first interception of the season leading to Abbott's second touchdown, and the Exiles led 20-8 at the half.

The second half started in style as the Exiles defence forced a Spartans punt which Lewis Whitcombe lept to block, the ball flew high in the air and out of the back of the endzone for a 2 point safety to the Exiles. This also meant the Spartans had to kick-off back to the Exiles, and a quick drive led to Clarke's first touchdown of the day on a 2 yard run. The next drive saw Clarke repeat his heroics, this time on a 1 yard sneak which was converted by Derrick Bennett, and the Exiles had put the game out of reach at 36-8.

The game still had time for one more special play though, as the Exiles defence pressured the Spartans quarterback into making a dangerous pass, veteran linebacker Aaron Alexis stepped under tha ball, and behind some devastating blocks returned the interception 44 yards for the touchdown. Clarke again ran in the conversion for the final 44-8 score.

Following the game Exiles Head Coach Tony Bainbridge commented "It was great to win our first home game of the season to celebrate our fantastic new facilities. But is was also great to do it on a good all round performance where even when we changed personnel we didn't see a drop off in performance."

Coach Bainbridge also awarded the 'Rib Shack Game MVP' award to the offensive line for their dominating display.

The Exiles now face the 2-3 Watford Cheetahs this weekend, again at the Beaverwood club, full details can be found on the club website
