Game abandoned at request of Cheetahs with score at 14-7
This weekends game vs the Cheetahs ending in unusual circumstances disappointing the large crowd which had witnessed a close encounter thus far.
With only a few plays of the second half completed the Cheetahs abandoned the game and left the pitch as they were unhappy with the pitch markings which had faded due to the persistent rain which had fallen during the whole match.
Up until that point the game had been a close one, the Cheetahs had opened the scoring on a 20 yard pass from Martin Browne to Ola Ajayi with Daniel Morton adding the extra point.
The Exiles hit back though, Anthony Clarke moving the chains with a great catch on fourth done, allowing Daniel Exell to run in from 4 yards out, Ash Faiers tying the game with the point after.
Just before the half a fumble by Jason Jacobson gave the Cheetahs good field position and the converted it with a 13 yard run from Jamal Joseph, Morton again getting the point after.
As the game resumed the unusual circumstances of the abandonment ensued, and now both teams must wait for the league to decide on the outcome of the game which could take some time. We will of course update everyone as soon as it is known.
Update - The league have decided to award the game to the Cheetahs as the faded lines were the Exiles responsibility.
