Juniors win at home to go 3-0!

Home Sweet Home.

Sunday the 7th of June saw the Kent Exiles Juniors take on the Berkshire Renegades in their third contest of the season. A beautiful summer’s day and the first home game of the season set the scene for what would be a great day of football. The Renegades started with the ball, and strong tackling from linebackers Aaron Khan, Ian Whitehead and Nathan Wilson saw that the Berkshire offense would not move the ball more than 5 yards. The Exiles offense took over, and 2 plays later QB James Cook made it into the endzone from 2 yards out, Sean Seeds would convert the PAT to make it 8-0 Exiles. The Defense added to their excellent start, and relentless pass rushing from Savior Onuorah and Joe Jebb resulted in another 3 and out from the Berkshire Offense.
Later in the second quarter Aaron Khan recorded a sack in the endzone for a safety, putting the Exiles up 10-0. The two teams traded possession, and on the third Exiles drive of the game RB Gabriel Quartey juked his way to a second Exiles touchdown. 14-0 Exiles. An interception from Imraj Singh gave the Exiles offense the ball back, and again Gabriel Quartey found the endzone, PAT converted by Sean Seeds. 22-0 Exiles. The 3rd quarter saw more dominating Exiles defense, great run-stopping tackling and pass defense from Olly Gadd and Alex O’Halloran set up a great interception from Cornerback Liam Riley to give the Exiles the ball back.
A slow offensive start to the second half was quickly resolved when Quartey once again found the endzone to put the young Exiles up 28-0.
Great blocking up front by Hamish Elliott, Josh Proud and Harry Costin continued to fuel a dominant ground attack, with QB James Cook finding the endzone in the fourth quarter and Quartey recording the conversion. 36-0 Exiles. Excellent pass catching from Yani Ourabah, Max Chance, James Woods and Regan Alexis continued to move the ball down the field, and crushing blocks from Tom Lee and Ed Callow saw that Sean Seeds would find the Endzone on a 10 yard touchdown scamper late in the fourth quarter.  PAT attempt converted by Cook to leave the final score at 44-0 Exiles.
A dominant performance on both sides of the ball acts as a great way to mark the midway point of the regular season. The young Exiles are back in action on June 28th when they face off against the Hertfordshire Cheetahs at the Beaverwood Club.
