Gladiators defeated in battle again!

The Kent Exiles returned to winning ways with a 19-7 win over the Colchester Gladiators at Colchester Rugby Club on Sunday.
Kent had slipped to their first defeat of the season at home to the Bury Saints last week but outlasted the Gladiators to move to 3-1 on the season.
Both sides started the game in a slightly sloppy manner with the Exiles fumbling the ball on just the second play of the game. However the Gladiators could not take advantage, throwing an interception just a few minutes later. Neither team was able to score any points in the first quarter and it was not until early in the second that Kent were able to take the lead with Gabriel Quartey’s short touchdown run capping off a good 54-yard drive.
After half-time the Gladiators started strongly, scoring on the first play from scrimmage a 75-yard run to level the scores at 7-7. However, the Exiles struck back soon after with a 9-play touchdown drive finished off with a 1-yard run by George Eghator. The visitors added another score late in the third quarter when quarterback Zac Ritchie found Alex Clifford for a 33-yard touchdown.
The game was notable for it's huge amount of turnovers, especially fumbles with Kent dropping the ball on four occasions and the visitors three. The Gladiators also threw two interceptions to the visitors one.
George Eghator and Gabriel Quartey split the yards on the ground with 38 and 34 yards respectively, both scoring a touchdown. Ritchie had over 200 yards passing with Danny Whitfield securing 7 receptions for over 70 yards. Joe Alexis was the top tackler with 6.5 whilst Chris Mitchell added four. Jay Henderson and Nick Mayer both had an interception on the day.
