The Exiles got "Bury-ed" again...

Bury Saints 41 - 14 Kent Exiles

A number of mistakes cost the Kent Exiles as they were defeated 41-14 by top of the table Bury Saints in Thetford on Sunday.

The Saints are among the strongest teams in the nation, having finished last season undefeated and still to register a loss in this campaign, however the Exiles kept the score close for much of the game.

Kent's offense got off to a bad start as quarterback Zac Ritchie had a pass intercepted on their first drive of the game. However, they were let off the hook as Bury missed a field goal to keep the game scoreless.

The Exiles resistance did not last long however and Bury opened the scoring later in the first quarter with a 17-yard touchdown throw and catch. The Saints added to their lead with two further touchdowns early in the second quarter after Kent threw two more interceptions.

However, Kent responded immediately with a six-play 50 yard drive finished off with a 19-yard touchdown pass to James Bertram-Smith to make the score 21-7 at half time.

After the interval, the Saints continued where they had finished off with a 61-yard touchdown run to pad the score. The Exiles struggled to make headway offensively in the second half although their defense stepped up after missing a number of key tackles in the first half.

Bury added their fifth touchdown toward the end of the third quarter after recovering a fumble deep inside Kent territory.

The Exiles defense responded however with a consolation interception return for a touchdown from Jay Henderson. Bury scored their sixth touchdown of the game as time ran out in the fourth quarter to confirm their comfortable victory.

Kent are still in a strong position for the playoff places after this defeat and will hope to finish the season strong in their three remaining games.
