DONE DEAL - Exiles welcome National Champions to the squad

01-04-2017

As well as an impressive group of new signings from other adult teams and universities across the country, with more to still be announced, the Exiles are also proud to welcome some returning players, a crop of promising rookies and graduates from their Junior Team into the Adult Squad this year.

Over the next week we'll look at the impact some of these players might have on the team in 2016, starting today with the players graduating from the 2016 National Championship Winning Junior Team.

Quarterback James Cook is the first to step up, a product of our Youth teams James had a big impact at junior level leading his team to the title as well as starting for the GB Lions juniors aged just 16. He's poised under centre, reads the game well and has great accuracy.

Defensive Back Alex O'Halloran also steps up after plying his trade at Warwick University over the winter. A student of the game, who is also having a great impact coaching the junior teams defensive backs this year, he's looking to make an impact on a deep Exiles backfield.

Cornerback Rael Green-Thomson rounds out the group, relatively inexperienced having played only one year at junior level, Rael is still raw but learning quickly. He quickly established himself as a starter on the junior team, and is looking to have the same impact at senior level, and has already performed well in the Exiles pre-season scrimmages.

Exiles Junior Head Coach Aaron Alexis is incredibly proud of his graduating players “They are a great group for the Adult Team to be gaining, we’ll miss them at Junior level” he commented, “there will be 15 graduates on the Adults roster this year, and its testament to all the youth and junior coaches how well they continue to play”.

Many of the 2016 Juniors are also currently playing at their chosen Universities, we have representatives at Oxford, Loughborough, Warwick, Brighton, Surrey, Greenwich and Kings College London to name a few, who we look forward to welcoming back on their return.
