DONE DEAL - Exiles welcome 3 returning players

In the week leading up to the first game of the 2017 season we’re looking at our new signings, returning players, promising rookies and graduates from the Junior Team to look at the impact some of these players might have on the team. Today it’s the turn of the three players returning to the team.

Neil Cooper – Linebacker

Neil returns after a year out, having previously played during the 2014 and 2015 seasons and leading the team in tackles in both seasons. Neil also recorded 4 sacks and 3 interceptions, but it was his speed and sure tackling that made him a mainstay of the defence. We’re looking forward to seeing him team up with last year’s leading tackler, Joe Alexis, and the duo are sure to give opposing offences something to think about!

Derrick Bennett – Tight End

Derrick Returns after a couple of years out, having last played in 2013. At 6’5” he was a favourite target of QB Zac Ritchie in the red zone that year, catching a touchdown and a couple of 2 point conversions to lead all tight ends in scoring. He is also an asset to the running game as a blocker.

Taur Everard – Wide Receiver

Taur also returns after a couple of years away, having last played in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He was a rookie then and mainly contributed on special teams, but this season has been an ever present at training so is looking to feature in the receiver rotation and make some plays.

We’re excited to welcome all three back to the squad and watching their impact during the year.
