The Kent Exiles is delighted to announce that Jared Gray, a 5-year veteran wide receiver of the Adult team, has been selected to join the British American Football Association’s (BAFA) Athletes’ Committee (AC).
Earlier this year, BAFA announced that it would be appointing new members to the BAFA AC to ensure that the diverse voices of the British American football community are well-represented within the National Federation. The BAFA AC, chaired by Kenny Bello, is focused on diversity and inclusion at all levels of the game, and meets regularly to ensure that the athletes’ voices are heard, and that their ideas, thoughts and opinions are communicated effectively with the BAFA Board.
We caught up with Jared to discuss what his new role on the AC would entail:
“The purpose of this committee is to be responsible for all British American football athletes. Across all formats of the game, we have to be able to listen to their views and communicate this with the committee chair. We meet regularly as a committee, to discuss current issues and map out projects that will help improve the experience for all athletes. We are currently starting work on some exciting projects which will help guide us over the next year.”
Upon asking why he chose to apply, Jared said:
“I love the game of American football. It has given me so much, and I’m always looking at ways to give back. Whether that be through coaching, supporting others or volunteering. I saw the committee share the role and thought it was a great idea to have the athletes of this game influence decisions at board level. I was also interested by the opportunity to bring about strategic change across Great Britain in relation to the sport I love.”
The Kent Exiles organisation is very proud to have a player representing the sport at this level. On behalf of the entire Exiles family, we wish Jared the very best of luck in all his future endeavours!
