Kent Exiles’ Coach Adam Lillis to Lead Great Britain Men’s American Football Team Wide Receivers

The Kent Exiles is proud to announce that former player and current adult team Offensive Coordinator, Coach Adam Lillis, has been selected as the wide receivers coach for the Great Britain men’s contact team. This achievement is well earned by Lillis, whose dedication to American Football development in the UK is almost unparalleled; with years playing, coaching and head coaching under his belt.

Coach Lillis’ has been instrumental in helping to change the narrative at the Kent Exiles adult team level and his selection is testament to his devotion to the sport. Coach Lillis has been coaching at the highest level within the Exiles organisation for a number of years.

Coach Lillis said:

“I am Delighted to be officially confirmed as the wide receivers Coach for the Great Britain Men’s National Team. For me, it is about being a teacher and mentor to the players within your control. I coach at university and men’s adult level, and I have the opportunity to not just teach the game, but to also support each player’s personal development and teach life lessons along the way. My biggest satisfaction from coaching is when players say thank you for teaching them how to be a good person more so than when they learned a specific skill or scheme.”

The announcement was made earlier today by the British American Football Association (BAFA), where Jason Scott, Great Britain Men’s Contact Head Coach, said:

“When selecting our positional and quality control coaches, I wanted to find young, passionate coaches who’ve played at the highest level themselves.”

Coach Lillis joined the Exiles family 10 years ago, after wanting to play under Coach John Moore who he had previously played for at the East Kent Mavericks.

On his time at the Kent Exiles so far, Coach Lillis said:

“it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in football because the Exiles are a fantastically well-run club with a great family atmosphere and opportunities to play at every level. I expect to be part of this team for a long as the Adult team chase a National Championship.”
